Vietnamese top legislator holds talks with Hungarian counterpart

VGP – National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on November 9 in Ha Noi held talks with Hungarian counterpart Kover Laszlo to beef up parliamentary cooperation.

NA Chairman Hung said he believed that the cooperation between the two National Assemblies would unceasingly promote the cooperation between the two countries.

He warmly welcomed the official visit of Hungarian National Assembly Speaker Kover Laszlo on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the two cointries' diplomatic ties.

The Vietnamese National Assembly, said Mr. Hung, always supports and creates favorable conditions to boost relations with traditional friends, including Hungary.

Viet Nam regards Hungary as a trustful friend in the EU. The bilateral ties serve as an important bridge for the relations between the EU and ASEAN member states, said the host leader.

NA Chairman Hung also thanked the Hungarian National Assembly for ratifying the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership Agreement (PCA) between Viet Nam and the EU and took the occasion to seek support for the early signing of a free trade agreement with the European Free Trade Association.

For his part, Speaker Kover Laszlo praised the regular exchanges of delegations between the two countries especially following the implementation of the 2009 deal between the Vietnamese and Hungarian National Assemblies.

The guest leader hoped to share experience on legal building and reform with Viet Nam in the new period.

Mr. Kover Laszlo revealed ta plan to provide 100 scholarships for Vietnamese students to study in Hungary and expressed an aspiration to shake hands with Viet Nam in agriculture, water resource management, public healthcare service, and sustainable development.

He also proposed the Offices of the National Assembly of the two sides boost cooperation to properly support the National Assemblies and parliamentary operation./.
