Viettel has beaten well-known telecommunications firms such as AWCC/TSI from Afghanistan, Airtel from India, Digicel Group from Jamaica, and Safaricom from Kenya to win the prestigious award.

Besides Viettel, telecommunications giants in the world such as GSMA, Orange, CPCNet Hong Kong, Cold, Telstra, Sebit, and Starhub have been given WCA 2009 in other categories.

In June, Viettel won the title “Emerging Market Service Provider of the Year” of 2009 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Information and Communications Technology Awards.
