Held in Asia for the first time, the tournament attracts senior chess players from different continents competing for 12 sets of medals at six levels – U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18 year-old – boys and girls.

The organizing board disclosed that so far, 74 countries and territories with 903 players have registered to participate in the event. The host country contributes the largest team with 95 players, followed by India (63), South Africa (33) and the US (33).
