The US $411.72 million project has US $330 million funded by the WB, which will channel the loan via the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).

The WB’s loan has the duration of 27 years, including a six-year-grace period. .

Ms. Victoria Kwakwa said she believed that the Trung Sơn hydropower plant project would contribute to diversifying power supply and ensuring energy security in Việt Nam.

Apart from generating power for the national power grid, the 260 MW Trung Sơn hydropower plant in Thanh Hoa province will help control floods and reduce emissions of greenhouse gas.

The Electricity of Việt Nam is the investor of the plant, which is expected to finish in 2017./.
