WB values VN’s ways to curb inflation

VNGOP – The chief representative of the World Bank (WB) in Việt Nam highly spoke of the Vietnamese Government’s effective solutions to control inflation.

March 29, 2008 7:05 AM GMT+7

Việt Nam is one of the world’s biggest exporters

At its March regular meeting, the Government decided some measures to curb inflation, boost export, and assist the poor in order to maintain the sustainable economic growth.

According to WB National Director Ajay Chhibber, the solutions of the Vietnamese Government focus on protecting the poor and cutting down public expenditure.

Mr. Ajay Chhibber considered Việt Nam one of big exporters in the world. The price increase of some commodities in the world market can make the inflation more serious in domestic market but also bring about great advantages for Vietnamese exporters.

Mr. Ajay Chhibber stressed that capital resources must used to serve production and export to minimize evil influences caused by inflation.

According to the WB representative, to late 2008, Việt Nam will face an unexpected rate of inflation and growth. However, Việt Nam will successfully put inflation into control, he confidently stated.

In January, the WB publicized the Global Economic Prospects 2008, in which Việt Nam’s growth rate was predicted to reach 8.2% in 2008 and 8.3% next year.
