Among the latest imported cases, three are foreign experts, including one from France, one from Germany, and one from the India. The rest of patients are Vietnamese returnees who repatriated from the UK (two nationals), Australia (one), Russia (two), and India (five).

There were no new COVID-19 cases found in the community in Viet Nam on the morning of October 12, which is also the 40th straight day recording zero community transmission in the country.

Of the country's patient tally, 691 are local infections and the rest are imported cases who were quarantined immediately upon arrival.

The death toll from the disease remained at 35 including 31 in Da Nang, three in Quang Nam, and one in Quang Tri. Most of them were elderly people with serious underlying conditions.

So far, only four patients have recovered over the past week, raising the total number of all-clear to 1024. There are currently no patients in critical conditions.

Some 16,160 people who had close contacts with COVID-19 patients or came from pandemic-hit areas are placed under quarantine and medically surveillance nationwide.

The Capital has undergone 54 days without community infection cases. HCMC, the largest commercial city in Viet Nam has confirmed no community transmission cases over the past 71 days./.
