ODA disbursement surges in five months

VGP – Việt Nam was estimated to have disbursed US $1.26 billion in ODA in the first five months of this year, meeting 52.5% of the yearly target, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).

The MPI attributed the rapid ODA disbursement in the reviewed period to the surge in disbursement of ODA provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) before the end of the Japanese fiscal year on March 31, 2011.   

The total ODA funds that have been signed so far this year reached over US $1.66 billion, up 20% against the same period last year.

The MPI forecasted that ODA disbursement in the first haft of the year would value at US $1.35 billion, meeting 56.25% of the yearly target./.
