Minister, Chairman Nguyễn Xuân Phúc appreciated the Ambassador’s positive contributions to developments in bilateral ties, especially following the official visit to Spain by Vietnamese State President Nguyễn Minh Triết  in 2009.

Mr. Phúc said that as Việt Nam is pursuing a policy to cut public spending to rein in inflation, some joint projects between the two countries are going slower than planned. However, the Government would do to help these projects gather speed when the situation is improved.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always opens doors to foreign investors to do business in Việt Nam and consistently keeps its commitments to ODA projects.

Ambassador Fernando Curcio Ruigomez informed his host that Spain pledges to maintain its ODA provision for Việt Nam despite economic difficulties it is facing.

Regarding the metro project in Hồ Chí Minh City, the diplomat said besides ODA fund provided by the Spanish Government, the European Investment Bank (EIB) stands ready to fund the project.

According to Ambassador Fernando Curcio Ruigomez, a large number of Spanish businesses are interested in seeking investment opportunities in Việt Nam./.
