Manufacturing, processing – magnet to FDI

VGP - Việt Nam granted licenses to 455 new foreign-invested projects in the first half of this year with total registered capital of nearly US $4.4 billion.

Manufacturing and processing sector takes the lead in FDI attraction

Besides, it gave the nod to the request of 32 existing foreign-funded projects for increasing investment capital by US $1.27 billion, which brought the total FDI inflow to US $5.67 billion in the reviewed period.

Noticeably, the manufacturing and processing sectors took the lead in FDI attraction, gaining pledges of over US $3.33 billion in 205 projects, or 58.8% of the total inflow volume. It was followed by construction (US $474.8 million) and catering services (US $356.9 million)

Also in the first sixth months, Hồ Chí  Minh City led other localities in drawing in foreign investment with over US $1.47 billion committed by foreign investors, while southern Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu province and Hà Nội attracted over US $500 million and around US $498.5  million, respectively.
