Higher national finance transparency needed

VGP – Though working independently, the State Audit of Việt Nam should strengthen coordination with ministries, sectors and localities to make the national finance and entities’ financial performance more transparent.

Mr. Vương Đình Huệ, Chief Auditor of the State Audit, made the statement on June 29 at a signing ceremony for an agreement on coordination mechanisms between the State Audit and the Ministry of Finance.

Now, the state budget inspection and surveillance system consists of three major agencies: the Government Inspectorate, the Finance Inspectorate under the Ministry of Finance and the State Audit.

However, the functions and tasks of those agencies are not very clear, which can reduce the efficiency of financial inspection and surveillance at many entities and in various fields.

Mr. Huệ said the State Audit has been closely coordinating with relevant agencies, including the Finance-Budget Committee of the National Assembly, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Defense, the Central Steering Committee for Corruption Prevention and Fight, People’s Councils, People’s Committees…
