Biography of State President Sang

VGP – Mr. Trương Tấn Sang, a politburo member and standing member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, was elected as the new Vietnamese State President with 97.4% of votes, at the ongoing first session of the 13th National Assembly in Hà Nội on July 25.

1966- 1968	Leader of the youth-student movement P.K.2, building secret bases among students
1969- 1971	Party committee member, Youth Union Secretary, managing a secret armed group of Đức Hòa town (Long An province)
1971- 1973	Arrested by the enemy and detained in the Biên Hòa prison in Phú Quốc island district. Released in 1973 under the Paris Treaty
1973- April, 1975	Cadre in charge of organization work at the T73 Department under the Central Reunification Committee
April, 1975- October, 1978	Worked at the Gia Định Trade Union, Deputy Head of the Hồ Chí Minh City New Economic Zone Development Department, Secretary of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union in HCM City’s plantations and new economic zones.
