The Deputy Prime Minister made the call today in Hà Nội at his reception for Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Martin Kocourek.

Czech businesses have so far engaged only in small-scale projects in Việt Nam. The two countries’ two-way trade turnover remains modest, standing around US $200 million and leaving a lot of untapped potentials, said Mr. Ninh.

The host leader encouraged Czech businesses to set foot in Việt Nam on the areas of mechanics, energy, transport, mine exploration, manufacturing, agriculture, aquaculture, and seafood.

Especially, Mr. Ninh suggested Czech businesses partake in infrastructure development and manpower training in Việt Nam via the investment models of BT, BOT and PPP.

The Deputy Prime Minister also applauded the Czech Republic’s economic reform which has set a good example for Việt Nam to follow during the process of economic restructuring.

Việt Nam hopes to receive more ODA from the European country, he added.

Minister Martin Kocourek said the Czech Government has always appreciated the traditional ties with Việt Nam.

The guest leader spoke highly of Việt Nam’s effort to surmount the negative impacts of the global economic crisis and maintain a stable economic growth.

The Minister said Czech businesses have hoped to strengthen their presence in Việt Nam in advantageous areas like mechanic manufacture, energy and minerals.

He said he expected the two sides would seek more cooperative opportunities and resolve customs obstacles at the business forum which was held the same day.

Mr. Martin Kocourek also reiterated the Czech republic’s commitment of ODA provision for Việt Nam./.
