More than US$ 8.3 bil. of FDI flows in VN

VNGOP – According to the Department of Foreign Investment (DFI), Ministry of Planning and Investment, Việt Nam has attracted over US$ 8.3 billion of foreign direct investment for the first eight months of 2007, increasing by 40 percent against the same period last year.

Construction – one of the sectors attracting the largest FDI

More than US$ 7 billion is the total capital of 814 new projects and the remaining the additional capital of 247 projects under implementation.

This amount of FDI mainly flows in industry, construction, services, agro-forestry and fishery. The major investment concentrations include Hà Nội, Hồ Chí Minh City and Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu.

Among more than 40 nations and territories investing in Việt Nam, the Republic of Korea continues to rank first, with 238 projects worth of US$ 1.7 billion.

Mr. Phan Hữu Thắng, Head of the DFI, stated that, with the current growth of FDI, Việt Nam is surely to fulfill the goal to attract US$ 12 billion in 2007.
