“Back to Roots” Tourism Year launched

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân, DPM Nguyễn Thiện Nhân, officials from ministries, sectors and international organizations, domestic and foreign visitors attended the ceremony.

Ms. Katherin Muller, Chief Representative of the UNESCO in Việt Nam, highly appreciated the efforts of the Vietnamese Government, and authorities and residents of Phú Thọ in successfully defending the file of Xoan singing submitted to the UNESCO.

The world has now had another special gift from Việt Nam, and the mankind has had an additional unique non-tangible cultural heritage: Xoan singing in Phú Thọ, she stressed.

At the ceremony, DPM Nguyễn Thiện Nhân said he wants all relevant organizations and individuals to preserve and bring into play values of Xoan singing, so that by 2015, all schools in Phú Thọ Province will have students who can sing Xoan.

At the end of the ceremony, artists from 4 ancient Xoan singing villages in Phú Thọ and 800 performers from Hà Nội and the province conducted special performances.

Under the Back to Roots tourism program, visitors are to enjoy numerous cultural, arts, sports and tourism activities.
