DPM Hoàng Trung Hải made the statement in Hà Nội on February 28 in his speech at the opening ceremony of Vietship 2012, which is held by Vinashin Group.

The Vietnamese Government has built up a program on restructuring the shipbuilding industry and schemes on developing the local sea transport to deal with impacts of the outside financial crisis on these industries and the inner poor managerial, financial and technological capacity, the DPM said.

The DPM said he wants foreign investors, shipbuilders and shipping lines to participate in the course of restructuring Vietnamese shipbuilders to strengthen their financial capacity.

Covering an area of some 10,000 m2, Vietship 2012 has over 300 booths set up by 200 companies, with two-thirds belong to countries strong in shipbuilding, including Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, the Netherlands, Poland, Finland, France, Switzerland, Norway, Singapore, Russia and Spain.

During the exhibition, the latest marine technologies, equipment and services are on display. A seminar themed “The Future Market: Opportunities and Challenges,” and a forum called “The Suppliers” will be held. Various ships, including container ships, oil tankers and cargo vessels, built by Vinashin are introduced at the event.
