US $1.23 billion in FDI attracted in two months

VGP – Việt Nam attracted US $1.23 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the first two months of this year, equivalent to 45% of the figure recorded in the same period last year.

In the reviewed period, US $1 billion in FDI has been disbursed, equivalent to 91% of the same period last year, reported the Foreign Investment Agency.

The processing and manufacturing industries have drawn the major attention of foreign investors with 26 newly registered projects totalling more than US $994 million, accounting for 81% of the registered capital in January and February.

Hải Phòng City topped 15 cities and provinces having FDI-invested-projects, luring more than US $605 million in newly-registered capital, or 49.2% of its total investment capital. Khánh Hoà  and Bình Dương Provinces came in second and third places, respectively.

Japan, with the total investment of US $1.07 billion, was the largest investor among 23 territories and countries investing in Việt Nam. It was followed by Taiwan and Singapore.
