The MOIT reported that the country’s imports hit US$9 billion, up 30% against last month.

In the second month, Việt Nam saw sharp increase in exports of seafood, vegetables, cashew nuts, tea, textiles, leather footwear, wood, electronic goods and spare parts.

However, coffee exports dropped by 20% compared to the same period last year in terms of both volume and price.

The MOIT said it will continue to expand and diversify its export markets in 2012 while speeding up trade promotion activities to assist Vietnamese firms in finding new partners and markets, to reach an annual export growth of 13%.

The Ministry will also advance supporting services such as information sharing, market forecasts and informing the business community of trade barriers.

Regulations and technical standards in accordance with international commitments to reduce the import of low quality goods will be applied./.
