VN, Denmark push up cooperation

VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng expressed his hope that the Danish Parliament will support cooperative activities of the Vietnamese and Danish governments in response to climate change and high sea level as well as in the making of law.

The PM spoke highly of the talks between President of Danish Parliament Morgens Lykketoft and Chairman of Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyễn Sinh Hùng while meeting the Danish guest in Hanoi on March 5.

He described the Danish President’s visit as crucial to the two nations’ relationship in all fields, applauding developments in the two countries’ relations, especially in economy.

In 2011, the two countries’ two-way trade turnover increased 15% compared to 2010. Denmark currently ranks seventh among the largest European investors in Việt Nam and the big Official Development Assistance (ODA) provider for Việt Nam. It has also committed to providing ODA for Việt Nam till 2015.

The two countries have established a strategic partnership in responding to climate change and environmental protection.

PM Dũng said he hopes that Denmark will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese Overseas studying and working there to stabilize their lives and contribute to the two nations’ relationship.

Mr. Morgens Lykketoft affirmed that the aim of his official visit is to strengthen and promote his country’s cooperative activities with Việt Nam, especially the legislative ties.

He also asserted that the Danish Parliament supports cooperative activities between the two governments and proposed the two sides to share experience in judiciary reform.
