Agricultural sector grows 2.84% in Q1

VGP – The agricultural sector posted a growth rate of 2.84% in the first quarter of the year, it was unveiled at a regular press conference held on April 9.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported that production value of agriculture, forestry and aquaculture grew at 3.7% in the reviewed period.

Export value of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products in the time is estimated at US $5.9 billion, equal to the same period in 2011.

Of the figure, agricultural products earned nearly US $3.2 billion, down 14.2%, forestry products, US $922 million, up 5.9% and aquaculture products, US $1.2 billion, up 9.1%.

The agricultural sector made imports worth US $3.7 billion, up 6.8%.
