International Media Center Opened for APEC 2006

VNGOVNet – In the afternoon of November 10, the International Media Center (IMC) was officially inaugurated to serve the APEC 2006.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Lê Văn Bàng, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Đỗ Quý Doãn and a lot of reporters who will cover the APEC 2006 Economic Leaders’ Week.

 

The IMC is located in the National Convention Center. This 4,000-m2 space consists of two quarters. The first one is a grand 300-seat press briefing hall equipped with 200 hi-speed Wifi computers; there are also special rooms for foreign television teams to receive and broadcast information. The second quarter provides technical support and services to reporters. At present, the IMC is the most modern information center in Vietnam.

 

In his speech, Mr. Lê Văn Bàng asserted: “The construction of the International Media Center for the APEC 2006 is very meaningful, facilitating the information work effectively and timely”. The preparations for the APEC 2006 Economic Leaders’ Week, especially devices, logistics, protocols, information, security work, have been completed. By 4.00 PM of November 10, 2006, the IMC was ready to serve the APEC 2006. Up to now, over 20 advance delegations have visited, inspected and hailed the preparatory work of the IMC.
