DPM Nhan attends Kunming Fair in China

VGP - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan Wednesday attended the opening ceremony of the 20th Kunming Import-Export Fair (Kunming Fair) and the 5th South Asian Countries Trade Fair in Yunnan province as part of his ongoing visit to China.

Addressing the event, Chairman of Yunnan Province Li Jiheng said that the annual event, first held in 1993, aims to uphold the role of Yunnan, a bridgehead gateway for the southwest of China with South Asia and South East Asia.

After 19 successful sessions, the Kunming Import-Export Fair has attracted growing attention from regional countries. In 2011, over 800 enterprises from around 80 countries and territories joined the event with the total trade transaction value reaching US$6.68 billion, up 45% against 2010. 

This year, around 100 Vietnamese enterprises joined the Kunming Fair with 400 booths, becoming the second biggest delegation after the host.

The event is expected to lure around 400,000 visitors and the total trade transactions is estimated to US$15.8 billion. 

The same day, Deputy PM Nhan went to survey Kunming-Lao Cai transport axis, visited Mengzi city before concluding the five-day tour to China./.
