National History Museum to become “data bank” on history, cultural heritages and museology

VNGOVNet – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng signed on December 19 Decision 281/2006/QĐ-TTg approving the Plan to build the National Museum of History (NMH).

Accordingly, the NMH will be built on an area of 10ha to the southeast of the Friendship Park in the Tây Hồ Tây New Urban Quarter, Xuân Đỉnh Commune, Từ Liêm District (Hanoi).

The Museum will serve scientific research, study, and dissemination of knowledge about history, cultural heritages, museology as well as other cultural demand of domestic people and international friends, contributing to socio-economic development. The Museum also helps to train and nurture skilled personnel for the Vietnamese museology sector.

The NMH will become a modern cultural landmark, and Vietnam’s biggest among socio-historical museums. The Museum will have frequent access to and timely popularize new research results already confirmed by historical and other related sciences as well as expand cooperative relations to introduce historical and cultural heritages of domestic and foreign museums, and historical collections of individuals and organizations.
