PM receives Thai Defense Chief

VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung on September 26 in Ha Noi received Thai Defense Minister, General Sukumpol Suwanatat who is on a working visit to Viet Nam.

He hailed the minister’s visit as a substantial contribution to lifting bilateral ties to a new height.

The host leader proposed the two Ministries of National Defense positively conduct cooperative activities especially in joint sea patrols and military aviation.

The Vietnamese Government chief also recommended the two sides strengthen coordination in food production and export.

The Thai General briefed the Vietnamese leader of the outcomes of the latest talks with his Vietnamese counterpart, General Phung Quang Thanh.

He said the two sides agreed to enhance exchanges of delegations at all levels, strengthen understanding between military forces of the two countries and speed up rice export.

The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of common concern, he added.

General Sukumpol Suwanatat affirmed that Thailand’s Ministry of Defense would work closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to realize the signed agreement on military cooperation to serve for the fine ties between the two countries in all fields./.
