Young science and technology talents honored

VGP – Some 141 young science and technology talents were honored in a ceremony held by the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Ministry of Science and Technology in Ha Noi on November 10.

Of the talents, 10 were presented the “Golden Globe” for their outstanding contributions in the fields of information technology, medicine, pharmaceuticals, bio-technology, and environmental science.

The 10 Golden Globe winners are Dr. Vu Tat Thang (born in 1979, Academy of Science and Technology), Ho Vinh Hoang (1981, TOSY Robotics), Nguyen Huu Thanh (1994, Le Quy Don Gifted High School in Da Nang city, Dr. Pham Van Quan (1979, Ha Noi Architectural University), Dr. Vu Thi Hanh Thu (National University, Ho Chi Minh City), Dr. Hoang Anh Tien (1979, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy), Do Xuan Hai (1982, Military Medical University), Dr. Vu Duy Hai (1979, Ha Noi University of Science and Technology), Tong Van Hai (1979, Ha Noi University of Agriculture), Dr. Nguyen Viet Linh (1981, Academy of Science and Technology).

Speaking at this year’s ceremony, Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan hailed the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for its efforts in detecting and honoring young Vietnamese talents.

He said that up to 45% of this year’s young science and technology talents hold tertiary qualifications or higher, a positive signal for improving Viet Nam’s science and technology foundation.

Deputy PM Nhan urged the youth organization to coordinate with the Ministry of Science and Technology to propose a project on educating and promoting young Vietnamese talents in the 2013-2020 period.

During the ceremony, the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Youth Union officially launched a Council for connecting young Vietnamese talents.

This kind of event is held on annual basis to encourage young people to study and master science and technology. It will also recognize their creative practical solutions and high-value research projects with applications that will contribute to national economic and social development.
