VN vows to preserve Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng World Heritage Site

VGP - The 5th anniversary was held on July 26 in Quảng Bình Province to celebrate the UNESCO recognition of Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park as the World Natural Heritage Site.

Attending the ceremony, Deputy PM Trương Vĩnh Trọng held that the event is extremely meaningful, aiming at confirming and honoring values of the Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park.

On this occasion, he called upon international organizations and scientists to keep assisting Việt Nam in protecting and embellishing the Heritage Site as a common property of the humankind.

Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park was recognized as a World Natural Heritage Site on July 5, 2003. Each year, it attracts around 400,000 visitors.

The anniversary lasts from July 18-27, during which some interesting events will take place, including the art photo exhibition ‘Joining hand in heritage protection’; the 2008 International Investment, Trade and Tourism Fair in Quảng Bình Province; the Countryside Fair “Gastronomy and Craft-village Specialties of Quảng Bình”; boat race, and art performances.
