Hi-tech applications in agriculture promoted

The program comes from the National Program for High Technology Development to 2020.  

By 2015, at least 80 agricultural businesses operating in hi-tech applications will be formed and developed in key economic regions. The figure will rise to 200 in the 2016-2020 period.

The program looks to build 3-5 hi-tech zones in some agricultural ecological areas and 1-2 hi-tech agricultural areas in key provinces.

In the 2016-2020 period, value of hi-tech products will account for around 35% of the total agricultural production value nationwide.  

To fulfill the above goals, the program will focus on selecting and creating multiplication technologies for plants, animals and aquaculture towards achieving higher productivity and quality, and other technologies to prevent diseases and epidemics, produce machines and equipment, and involve in preservation and irrigation.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will work with the Ministry of Science and Technology and other relevant ministries, agencies and localities to deploy the program./.
