Role of Government Portal expanded

VGP – The functions, tasks, power and organizational structure of the Viet Nam Government Portal (VGP) shall be expanded in accordance with the Prime Minister’s Decision 06/2013/QD-TTg dated January 1.

Accordingly, VGP is defined as the agency responsible for integrating electronic administrative information and playing as an online multi-media outlet of the Government.

Its major tasks cover management and dissemination of official information of the Vietnamese Government and the Prime Minister, integration of websites of ministries, agencies and localities, and provision of online public services.

VGP is responsible for coordinating with relevant agencies to organize press briefings and interviews of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, and leaders of the Government Office.

It also assigned to organize videoconferences, online dialogues and other models of conversation between the central government and inferior levels and between the Government and people.

Over the past months, VGP has arranged a number of online chats between the Cabinet members and citizens as requested by the Prime Minister in a bid to better supply information.

Printed or Online Official Gazette shall be managed and published by the Government’s Portal.

The new document, which replaces the Prime Minister’s Decision No.83/2008/QD-TTg dated on June 25, 2008 on functions, tasks, power, and organizational structure of the Government Portal, is scheduled to take effect since March 15, 2013./.
