Party establishes Central Steering Committee on Anti-corruption

VGP – The Politburo of the Communist Party of Viet Nam on February 1 decided to establish the Central Steering Committee on Anti-corruption.

The 16-member Committee is directly administered by the Politburo and chaired by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

There are five Vice Chairpersons, namely Mr. Le Hong Anh, Mr. Ngo Van Du, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc who are all Politburo members, Mr. Uong Chu Luu, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and Mr. Nguyen Ba Thanh, newly-appointed Director of the Party’s Committee for Internal Affairs.

Other members of the Committee are Mr. To Huy Rua, Politburo member, Director of the Party’s Central Committee for Organization; Mr. Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member, Director of the Party’s Central Committee for Propagation and Education; Mr. Tran Dai Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security; Mr. Ngo Xuan Lich, Party Central Committee secretary, Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the People’s Army; Mr. Truong Hoa Binh, Party Central Committee secretary, Tribunal President of the People’s Supreme Court; Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh, Party Central Committee secretary, President of the People’s Supreme Procuracy; Mr. Huynh Phong Tranh, Party Central Committee secretary, Government General Inspector; Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Party Central Committee secretary, State General Auditor; Mr. Vu Trong Kim, Party Central Committee secretary, Vice President-General Secretary of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee; and Mr. Nguyen Van Hien, member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the NA Committee of Justice.

The Central Steering Committee on Anti-corruption are in charge of nine obligations, including proposing the Politburo and the Secretariat for considering and deciding mechanisms, policies, laws and solutions on anti-corruption; discussing and deciding annual key working programs and plans on anti-corruption.

The Committee can direct and work with relevant agencies in dealing with serious corruption cases.

The Central Committee for Internal Affairs is the standing agency of the Steering Committee.
