VN to host semi-final and final rounds SEA Football Cup 2007

VNGOVNet – Considering the proposal of the Committee for Sports and Gymnastics, on behalf of the PM, Standing Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng agreed on January 05 that Vietnam will host the semi-final and final rounds of the Southeast Asian Football Championship 2007.

The Deputy PM ordered the Committee of Sports and Gymnastics to collaborate with the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Public Security, Culture and Information, Post and Telecommunication and the Hanoi City People’s Committee in preparing and organizing the championship in line with the current regulations.

Southeast Asian Football Championship (formerly called Tiger Cup). It is organized every two years and five official competitions have been hold. Vietnam successfully organized this Cup in 1998 and functioned as the co-organizers with Malaysia in 2004 (Vietnam hosted the Table-A matches). Up to now, the highest prize gained by Vietnamese national football team in this Cup is the Silver Medal. The teams with best achievements are Thailand (3 championships) and Singapore (2 championships).
