Borrowing agreement approved for ADB-funded agriculture science and technology project

VNGOVNet – On the proposal of the State Bank of Vietnam, the PM approved on January 5 the Borrowing Agreement for the Agriculture Science and Technology Project funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Accordingly, the PM assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to consult with relevant ministries, sectors and localities and direct the making of the project; approve the project and decide investments in line with the regulations and the agreement reached with ADB.

Under a decision to carry out the project, the PM authorized Lê Đức Thúy, Governor of the State Bank, to represent the Socialist Republic of Vietnam State to sign the borrowing agreement with ADB. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to inform ADB about this authorization.

The Agriculture Science and Technology Project focuses on agricultural research, extension and education. The Project’s goal is to help the Government prepare detailed investment proposals for agricultural scientific and technological promotion in Vietnam in a bid to boost the country’s sustainable economic development and poverty alleviation in rural areas.

The Project aims to provide equipment, build capacity and establish close interactions between the organizations within the agricultural science and technology system to ensure that the system will considerably contribute to the agricultural sector’s growth in Vietnam.
