MoH to approve EC-funded healthcare of the poor people project

VNGOVNet – The PM agreed on January 9 that the Minister of Health approves the execution plan of the "Support to poor people’s healthcare in northern mountainous and Central Highlands provinces" project funded with a nonrefundable aid of €18 million by the EC and is fully responsible for its implementation.

The PM ordered the Ministry of Health to pay attention to recommendations from the Ministry of Planning and Investment in realizing the Project and allowed it to import six two-shaft automobiles for project use.

The State Bank of Vietnam was assigned to sign with the World Bank a trust agreement to finance the Project.

The “Support to poor people’s healthcare in northern mountainous and Central Highlands provinces” project will be implemented in five provinces: Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Điện Biên, Lai Châu and Sơn La. Its major target is to provide medical treatment, examination and prevention services and improve the health of poor and ethnic minority people in these provinces with the Government involved in setting out facilitating policies and institutions in line with Prime Ministerial Decision 139. The Project will end in December 2010.
