The Tokyo-based Da Nang representative office on May 15 launched a feasibility study on the low-carbon city model in the central city.

The US$600,000 project funded by the APEC will be piloted in Ngu Hanh Son district before it is replicated across the city.

The locality encourages the use of electricity-powered bikes, solar energy equipment, biogas, bio-energy, and energy saving lighting systems.

Earlier, in June 2012 the city submitted four projects to limit carbon emissions into natural environmentg, including using electricity-powered bikes, building metro routes, using renewable energy sources, and building a bus rapid transit system.

In the 2016-2020 period, the city aims to meet environmental city criteria, with 100% of industrial and daily use waste water to be treated, 70% of solid waste recycled and 25% of water reused./.
