VN to attend 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit

VGP - Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan will lead a Vietnamese delegation to attend the 2nd Asia-Pacific Water Summit (APW2) in Chiang Mai, Thailand from May 19-20.

Under the theme “Water Security and Water-related Disaster Challenges: Leadership and Commitment,” the summit will focus on crucial issues of water security and water resource sectors related to socio-economic development in the region.

Discussions on water security will further focus on three priority policy areas: Development, Shocks and Resilience, and Human Well-being. 

It will provide Asia-Pacific leaders, stakeholders from all sectors dealing with various water-related problems, and the international community an opportunity to jointly explore water-related issues and challenges with concrete solutions.

Viet Nam will attend the summit to affirm its concern and commitment to international cooperation in water resources, and share its viewpoint to challenges to regional water security, as well as abilities to access, protect and sustainably utilize water resources in the context of global climate change, contributing to fostering the regional cooperation.

On the sidelines, Deputy PM  Nhan will have bilateral meetings with several heads of state./.
