Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat and representatives of Norway’s Embassy and the United Nations (UN) in Viet Nam on July 29 inked the document relevant to the work.

Accordingly, the three-year program will be conducted in six provinces namely Bac Kan, Lao Cai, Ha Tinh, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong and Ca Mau.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Minister Phat stressed that Viet Nam always takes positive steps to link hands with the international community in the fight against climate change.

The event marked a new progress in the cooperative relations between Viet Nam and the UN-initiated program on reducing greenhouse gas emissions by cutting emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, said Minister Phat.

UN Resident Coordinator in Viet Nam Pratibha Mehta proposed Viet Nam fulfilling the program on schedule and taking advantage of its benefits./.
