National Wage Council makes debut

VGP – The National Wage Council was launched today in Ha Noi in the presence of Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh.

The organization consists of 15 members who are led by Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Minh Huan.

The debut of the National Wage Council is a step forward in realizing the Amended Labor Code which took effective on May 1, 2013. 

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh asked the members to take on a responsible and democratic working manner to fulfill their assigned missions.

The Council plays an important role in building regional minimum wage in particular and wage policy in general; attracting investment; and ensuring social welfare for labourers.

The Council is responsible for proposing the 2014 regional minimum wage levels by this year’s end. 

Mr. Gyorgy Sziraczki, International Labor Organization (ILO) Viet Nam Country Director, hailed Viet Nam for creating a new mechanism on regional minimum wage, saying it would contribute to building  cooperative and harmonious labor relations./.
