HCMC: CPI goes up slightly in August

VGP – Consumer price index (CPI) in Ho Chi Minh City rose 0.31% from the previous month and 3.17% against the same period last year, according to the Municipal Statistics Office.

Food catering services saw a monthly increase of 0.19% of which prices of food surged by 0.54% and foodstuff 0.22%.

The transport services witnessed the sharpest price increase at 1.24%.

Meanwhile, costs of housing-electricity-water-fuel edged up by 0.58%, followed by culture-entertainment-tourism (up 0.28%), garments and footwear (up 0.19%), household utensils (up 0.03%), other goods and services (up 0.03%), medicine and medical services (up 0.02%).

Prices of post and telecom remained stable meanwhile educational costs dipped 0.01%.

Also in August, prices of gold and dollar dropped 0.48% and 0.41%, respectively./.
