State President extends best wishes to fellow-citizens

VGP - State President Truong Tan Sang has conveyed his hope for a country of peace and prosperity when delivering a New Year message through a live broadcast as it struck midnight on New Year's Eve.

He praised the concerted efforts made by the entire Party, people and army for having brought about positive gains and valuable experience in 2013, the year that was full of challenges.

In the speech, he said that though the country still deal with a lot of difficulties, the achievements made during the renewal process are always a source of encouragement for people to advance toward a brighter future.

"It is our heartfelt aspiration to work and make due contribution, living up to the expectations of our ancestors, and the glorious history of the nation and for the sake of future generations," he said.

State President Sang called on compatriots, comrades and soldiers across the vountry to unite, utilise brainpower and talent to speed up the renewal, practise democracy on a large scale to continue advancing the country.

He underlined that national construction and defence require a strong will, consistent actions and a spirit of vigorious, widespread and comprehensive renewal.

"It struck midnight on New Year's Eve, the Year of the Horse  comes. A new spring coming to the country and people of Viet Nam.

At this sacred moment, I would like to extend my best wishes to all people, comrades and soldiers at home and abroad and international friends," he said.

The State President also conveyed his deep sentiment to officials and cadres who are on duty in border and island areas./.
