NA convenes seventh session

VGP - The seventh session of the 13th National Assembly opened in Ha Noi on May 20 with a speech by NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

Chairman of the National Assembly Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc, who heads the session’s secretariat, delivered a report clarifying adjustments to the session’s agenda, which were approved by the deputies.

On behalf of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc presented the Government’s report supplementing socio-economic development results in 2013 and reviewing the implementation of socio-economic development plan in the first months of the year.

President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan delivered a report on ideas and suggestions of voters nationwide.

On behalf of the Ethnic Council and NA committees, National Assembly Standing Committee member and Chairman of the NA Economic Committee Nguyen Van Giau reported the deputies the verification of the Government’s report on supplementary socio-economic development results and State budget in 2013 and the implementation of socio-economic development plan in the first months of the year.

During the session, the law-making body plans to spend the majority of its sitting time discussing and approving 11 draft laws, three resolutions and commenting on 16 other draft laws for the first time to realize the NA resolution on implementing the 2013 Constitution.

According to the resolution, laws, ordinances and legal documents which had been issued before the 2013 Constitution came into effect must be reviewed, amended, supplemented or replaced by new regulations in accordance with the new Constitution.

The session is scheduled to close on June 24.
