At the meetings, the two parliamentary leaders expressed concerns about China’s illegal placement of its drilling rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 in Viet Nam’s waters.

They were unanimous with the Declaration of President Benigno Aquino and PM Nguyen Tan Dung on the concerns about the situations in the East Sea.

They called for the leaders of ASEAN and international community to ask China to put an end to its violations and abide by international law including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), working towards the establishment of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.

The Philippine leaders confirmed that the Philippines supports Viet Nam on the East Sea issues, suggesting that Viet Nam, the Philippines and the whole community work together to prevent aggressive activities violating international laws and national sea and island sovereignty.

Viet Nam expects to promote the two nations’ relations to a new height for the sake of the two countries’ citizens and the regional peace, security, stability and development, said PM Nguyen Tan Dung.

He conveyed the invitations of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung to Mr.Feliciano J.Belmonte and Mr. Franklin Drilon to pay an official visit to Viet Nam and attend the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132) scheduled for 2015 and they accepted.
