Favorable conditions created to attract more investment

In a speech delivered at the 2014 Mid-term Viet Nam Business Forum, PM Nguyen Tan Dung stated that Viet Nam will ensure absolute security and safety for foreign organizations, businesses and individuals in the country.

The nation will struggle with peaceful measures to protect its sovereignty based on international law, PM Dung re-confirmed.

Taiwan to expand investment in VN

Taiwanese businesses will expand investment activities and continue with projects in Viet Nam, said Chairwoman of the Council of the Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce to Viet Nam Liu Mei Te when she was received by PM Nguyen Tan Dung.

The Vietnamese Government will continue to improve its business environment to facilitate foreign investors' successful and long-term investment in Viet Nam, including that of Taiwanese, the Government leader stressed.

VN attends Global Summit of Women in Paris

A Vietnamese delegation, led by Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan is taking part in the 24th Global Summit of Women (GSW).

At a press conference prior to the summit, Doan stressed the need to create more opportunities for women throughout the world, thus promoting the advancement and equality of female citizens in all aspects of society.

Thailand reaffirms traditional relations with VN

Receiving Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow on Thursday, Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh hoped that the situation in Thailand will be stabilized soon.

Thailand will continue to maintain and expand the traditional friendship and strategic partnership with Viet Nam, affirmed acting Minister for Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow.

China’s inhumane acts injure 12 Vietnamese, damage 24 vessels

Since May 3, Chinese vessels guarding the oil rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 illegally placed in Viet Nam’s waters have injured 12 Vietnamese people and damaged 24 vessels of the Viet Nam law enforcement forces.

China continued taking more aggressive actions, releasing distorted information and blaming Viet Nam while illegally placing its oil rig deep inside the waters of its next-door neighbor and deploying a fleet of escort ships defending it.

Singaporean investors to expand operations

The June 4-6 Viet Nam-Singapore Business Forum in Ho Chi Minh City enable them to explore more fresh cooperative opportunities.

Singaporean businesses estimate highly the potential of the food processing and retails in Viet Nam. They have invested in such areas as service, finance and real estate in the country.

Singaporean business delegations travelled around the Mekong Delta and some other provinces to seek for the possibility of forming a new Viet Nam Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) in the future.

Exports to Australia show mixed results for Q1

Official data for the first four months of 2014 were mixed, showing overall Vietnamese exports to Australia grew modestly by 11.5% over last year’s same period, tallying in at US$1.068 billion. 

Steel and steel products showed a promising increase in the pace of growth rising 300% and 130%, respectively, though their overall value remained inconsequential.

Meanwhile, Vietnam imports during the period from Australia increased US$658.3 million year-on-year consisting principally of wheat, metals, iron and steel scrap and coal.  

Hong Kong group set to further investment in Binh Duong

Hong Kong’s Esquel Group - one of the world’s leading producers of premium cotton shirts – plans to expand investment and production in the southern province of Binh Duong in the coming time.

Esquel opened three plants in Viet Nam’s Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Hoa Binh provinces, contributing to the localities’ socio-economic development, as well as creating a large number of jobs for local people.

The group now earns more than US$200 million each year from exports produced at its factories in Viet Nam and generates jobs for 10,000 Vietnamese workers.
