The Ministry said Chinese ships were ready to ram and fire water cannons at the Vietnamese vessels. However, despite China’s aggression, the Vietnamese fisheries surveillance force still maintained its presence there to demand China immediately withdraw its oil rig and escorted ships.

The same day, China deployed some 114 ships, including 39 coast guard ships and six military ones, around the rig.

Meanwhile, Chinese fishing boats, supported by two coast guard ships, continued aggressively encircling and preventing Vietnamese fishing boats right in Viet Nam’s waters./.
