Of the figure, there were about 39 coast guard ships, 12-14 cargo vessels, and especially five military ships.

China also deployed 35-38 fishing boats, supported by two coast guard ships, near the rig to prevent Vietnamese boats from normal operations.

Chinese ships and fishing boats have rammed, fired water cannon at and damaged vessels 36 vessels of the Vietnamese fisheries surveillance and coast guard forces. More seriously China sank a Vietnamese fishing boat on May 26 with ten persons on board.

Recently, China has released distorted historical documents about its sovereignty claims over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos of Viet Nam.

China’s perverse actions in the East Sea have sparked public anger in Viet Nam and been condemned by the international community./.
