National Assembly approves revised environment law

VGP - With over 86% of vote, the National Assembly on June 24 passed a draft revised Environment Protection Law.

The revised law consists of 20 chapters and 170 articles stating that protecting the environment is the responsibility of all agencies, organisations, households and inviduals.

Organisations and individuals who benefit from the environment are responsible for providing financial support for environment protection activities.

Under the new law, environmental polluters have to make proper compensation in accordance with the law.

Environmental protection should be in harmony with economic development, social protection, biodiversity preservation and adapting to climate change. It also says environment protection needs to be related to appropriate use of natural resources and waste reduction.

Earlier, the National Assembly (NA) on June 23 passed the Law on Customs (revised) with 92.37% of vote.

The revised law includes of eight chapters and 104 articles confirms that the State creates all possible conditions for import, export, transit, exit, and entry activities to and from Viet Nam.

It aims to make the Vietnam Customs force pure, strong, professional, modern, transparent, effective and productive./.
