VN to join Asia-Pacific Advanced Network

VNGOVNet – On behalf of the PM, Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm agreed in principle on December 12 that Vietnam will participate in the Asia-Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) and its annual contribution will be extracted from the fund for scientific and technological cause of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST).

The Deputy PM also agreed to the contribution Vietnam will make to the Trans-Eurasia Information Network 2 (TEIN2) in the period 2006-2007 as stipulated by the Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe (DANTE). The sum is also drawn from the same MST scientific and technological fund.

Mr. Phạm Gia Khiêm also agreed in principle the construction of a Vietnam research and training information network to connect a variety of domestic research institutes of science and technology and leading universities with international ones through TEIN2. The MST was assigned to collaborate with the Ministry of Post and Telematics and other relevant ministries and sectors in designing a detailed work-plan for this project.
