PM Nguyen Tan Dung, who chaired the meeting, highlighted the Government’s tasks on establishing institutions, laws, mechanisms and policies.

The Party and State’s standpoints and guidelines must be institutionalized and concretized with right and suitable laws, mechanisms and policies so the Party and State’s management can be effective, he added.

PM Dung asked for guaranteeing the quality of legal documents, especially their legality, constitutionality and feasibility.

The draft laws brought up for discussion included the Law on the Organization of the Government, the Law on the Organization of Local Authorities, the Population Law, the Law on amending and supplementing some articles of the Accounting Law and the Law on the Promulgation of Legal Documents.

The Law on the Organization of the Government aims to renew the organization and activities of the Government to make it effective and strong in bringing into full play democracy and law to serve people and develop the country.

The Government members also gave comments on a draft Resolution of the National Assembly on the participation of Viet Nam in the United Nations’ peace keeping activities.

The draft Resolution, including six clauses, confirms that Viet Nam joins the UN’s peace keeping activities to protect regional and international peace as a responsible member of the UN and the international community.
