VN mulls ban on liquor sales after 22h

VGP – The sales of liquor and beer may be banned from 10pm to 6am, according to a draft law being prepared by the Ministry of Health.

The World Health Organization said some 6,000 people died around the world each day for alcohol abuse.

Viet Nam is among 25 countries with highest alcohol and beer consumption. It is estimated that 70 percent of men drink beer and one out of four men consumes six glasses of beer every day.

It is estimated that Vietnamese people spend around US$3 billion on beer and alcoholic drinks each year and beer consumption rate per capital is constantly on the rise year after year.

Surveys show that 60 percent of traffic accidents in Viet Nam are related to beer and alcoholic drinks./.
