Monument in honor of Gac Ma heroes to be built

VGP – A competition has been announced to seek the best design for the Monument in honor of 64 Vietnamese combatants who perished in a 1988 battle to protect Gac Ma island of Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and the country’s sacred sovereignty.

Individuals and organization can register for the competition from now until August 25 at No. 82, Tran Hung Dao Street, ha Noi and No. 85 August Revolution Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

Organizers will receive the competitors’ works from August 1 to October 31.

The monument, covering an area of around 20,000 m2, will be built in coastal city of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province.

The best design must symbolize courageous sacrifice, steadfastness and indomitability of the combatants, said Chairman of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labor Dang Ngoc Tung./.
