Japanese businesses eye Ha Nam for investment

VGP - A delegation of businesses from Gifu prefecture in Japan made an exploratory tour of the northern province of Ha Nam to seek investment opportunities.

During a working session, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Mai Tien Dung introduced the delegation to sectors with rich foreign investment potential, such as the support industry, high-tech industries and agricultural production.

The locality will offer a favourable business climate to foreign investors to conduct business in the province in terms of geographical position and transport infrastructure, which, coupled with the abundant workforce of the locality will facilitate the operation of investors, he said.

The delegation’s head, Watanabe Naofumi, said that Japanese enterprises have appreciated Ha Nam’s investment environment including its investment attraction policies and infrastructure.

Enterprises currently visiting Ha Nam are mainly operating in paper and steel production and machinery manufacturing and would like to receive the province’s assistance in recruiting workers, he added.

The province is now home to 130 projects funded by investors from 10 countries and territories. Among them, Japan ranks first in terms of investment capital with US$447.5 million.

Last year, Ha Nam granted licences to 32 FDI projects backed by $302 million in capital, making it one of the top 10 localities nationwide in attracting foreign investment.
