State President greets Japanese entrepreneurs

State President Truong Tan Sang hosted a reception in Ha Noi on October 14 for a Japanese business delegation who are in Viet Nam to attend the Viet Nam-Japan economic forum held the same day.

The President also took note of the close relations between many Japanese and Vietnamese localities and their cooperation in workforce training and agriculture.

Yuri Sato, Vice President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), informed her host of the contents of discussions at the Viet Nam – Japan economic forums, including the impacts of Trans-Pacific Partnership deal on business operations.

PM attends Congress of Party Organization of Central Business Bloc

PM Nguyen Tan Dung asked businesses in the Central Business Bloc to take advantage of opportunities and turn difficulties and challenges into advantages for their future development at the second Congress of the Party Organization of the Central Business Bloc on October 14.

He asked the bloc to coordinate with other relevant ministries and agencies to propose policies and mechanisms to tackle difficulties, improve the businesses’ effectiveness and competitiveness as well as focus on directing the implementation of restructuring the State-owned enterprises and realizing policies on social welfare and security.

The Government leader proposed the bloc pay attention to training work, improve the business management, financial management and establish a human resources, especially high-quality human resource, to serve the development of the business community.

PM attends Central Public Security Party Organization’s Congress

PM Nguyen Tan Dung on October 16 in Ha Noi attended the 6th Congress of the Party Organization of the Central Public Security Force.

The congress reviewed the performance of the Party Organization, address shortcomings and causes, as well as draw experience from the implementation of the Party Organization’s resolution in the previous tenure while devising a plan for the 2015-2020 tenure.

Addressing the event, PM Nguyen Tan Dung proposed the Central Public Security Party Organization to improve leadership and combat capacity in the new era and noted the importance of tasks for the sector.

Resolution on e-Government issued

The Government has issued a Resolution on e-Government with the aim of accelerating the e-Government development, improving the quality and effectiveness of State agencies and providing better services for people and businesses as well as increasing the status of Viet Nam’s e-Government on the United Nations’ rankings.

From 2015-2017, administrative reform will be boosted in accordance with enhancing information technology application in monitoring and supplying online public services to shorten time and expenditures in administrative procedures.

VN protests China’s illegal lighthouse construction: Spokesperson

China ’s construction of two lighthouses in the Chau Vien(Cuarteron) and Gac Ma (Johnson) reefs in Viet Nam ’s Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago is in serious violation of Viet Nam ’s sovereignty, stated Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Le Hai Binh.

“Once again, we affirm that Viet Nam has full legal and historical evidence for its indisputable sovereignty over the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos. That other countries conduct activities there without permission and agreement from Viet Nam is illegal and completely worthless,” he stated.

VN continues to promote cooperation with Japanese Government, businesses

Viet Nam continues to cooperate with the Japanese Government and businesses in improving the nation’s business environment and competitiveness to become an attractive investment destination, asserted Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai at the Viet Nam-Japan Business Forum on October 14.

In the future, the Vietnamese Government hopes that the Japanese business community will expand investment in Viet Nam, especially in terms of six sectors in the cooperation action plan till 2020 and other sectors including agriculture, education, infrastructure, environment, health, processing industry, manufacturing, auxiliary industry and Public Private Partnership investment.

Defense Minister to attend China-ASEAN defense ministers' meeting

A Vietnamese high-ranking delegation, led by Minister of Defense Phung Quang Thanh, attended an informal meeting between Chinese and ASEAN defense ministers and the Xiangshan Forum from October 14-18 in Beijing, China.

US religious freedom report inadequately depicts VN

Although the US Department of State’s 2014 International Religious Freedom Report acknowledges Viet Nam’s achievements in the field, it regrettably continues to highlight inadequacies and cites erroneous information about Vietnam, stated Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson LeHai Binh.

Binh made the statement during a regular press conference of the ministry in Ha Noi on October 15.

“Viet Nam’s constant policy is respecting and observing citizens’ rights to belief and religious as well as non-belief and non-religious freedom. This has been clarified in our Constitution and legal system and we consistently strive to make sure it is respected in reality,” he declared.

Japan-VN Friendship Association in Hokuriku established

The Japan-Viet Nam Friendship Association in Japan’s Hokuriku region made debut in Toyama city on Wednesday.

The association will work to further enhance friendship and cooperation between the region and Japan with Vietnam through economic, trade, investment activities, cultural and educational exchanges, and human resources training.

The association members include entrepreneurs, politicians, scholars and local residents in Hokuriku.

VN takes lead in measuring multidimensional poverty: Minister

Viet Nam has taken the lead in applying a multidimensional poverty measurement approach in Asia, which is part of efforts to realize its commitments to eradicating poverty in all forms, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen has said. 

At a forum in Ha Noi, she said that the Vietnamese Government replaced a one-dimensional approach by the multidimensional poverty measurement method for 2016 – 2020 in last September. 

The approach, aiming to improve people’s livelihoods as well as their access to basic social services, especially health care, education, housing, clean water and information, is recommended by the international community to reduce.
