VN supports the organization of the Beijing Olympics
VNGOP - The Beijing Olympics is the world’s largest sports event and it aims to broaden exchange and enhance friendship and cooperation between countries, for peace and progress throughout the world. Việt Nam supports the organization of the Beijing Olympics and has been actively preparing to take part in the event.
The above statement was made on March 21 by Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thu Hà, Hồ Chí Minh City People’s Committee Vice Chairperson and Head of the HCMC Olympic torch procession organizing board, after the information on the internet claims China planned for the Olympic torch to go through Việt Nam’s Hoàng Sa (Paracel) Archipelago.
She confirmed that the Olympic torch is still set to make its way through HCMC and that the procession via the HCMC is a big event leading up to the games.
The organizing board had expressed its deep concern to China about the information on the internet, Ms. Hà revealed.
She added that the board was officially informed through the two countries’ diplomatic contacts that China has no plans for a torch-light procession on Hoàng Sa Archipelago, confirming the information on the internet is incorrect.
